Put on any piece of music and tap out the rhythm.

Again, put on any piece of music and dance away. Use scarves and other props to enhance your dance if you wish.

Turn on your child’s favorite song and ask him to draw the music. This can be fun!

Purchase or make instruments and let your child create his own rhythm band. Some instruments to consider might be: rhythm
sticks, child’s drum set, cymbals, keyboard, maracas, castanets, jingle bells, tambourine etc.

Teach your child simple songs and allow him to sing them into a tape recorder. This can be great fun as well as a wonderful childhood memento.

Do double duty by introducing songs that teach the alphabet, numbers, days
of the week, months of the year, telephone numbers etc.

Vary your music collection inexpensively by using the public library. With interlibrary loan there are literally thousands of children’s, classical,
jazz, ethnic and many other CD’s at your fingertips.
